yin-yang

Perhaps, this is my most minimalistic sculpture.

This work has a special sacred meaning. On the one hand, it refers to the ancient Chinese symbol of “Yin & Yang”, but it has one fundamental difference. Reading the sign of duality, we see an integral, indissoluble canvas of being. Borders are not clear and changes depend on the angle of view and on lighting. All this suggests that all contradictions, polarities have one nature: it is a single organism, one matter, and their boundaries are conditional and mobile. Under certain lightning conditions, we see a pure white circle, but when illuminated from the side, the surface comes to life, revealing a dynamic landscape of form and anti-form interaction.
