New morphology.
The first personal exhibition of the sculptor Sergei Sobolev “Morphology” opened in the gallery “11.12” at Winzavod. Graduate of the Institute named after V.I. Surikova has been a regular participant in group exhibitions since 1994. The gallery presents a series of his biomorphic works, in which the author acts as an epigone of Isama Noguchi and Henry Moore, creating works at the intersection of minimalism and organics. His sculptures are always imaginative and, entering into a dialogue with space and the viewer, are able to tell a whole story. Sobolev demonstrates the conventionality of such concepts as “form” and “light”. In the darkened room, beams of light capture the laconic forms of his sculptures, giving them a new dimension and theatrical drama. In the other room, on the contrary, the sculptures are displayed against the backdrop of huge sketches for them and, as it were, live their lives – from conception to finished work. Sergei Sobolev is an intuitive artist. He creates a world in which form and space take on the scale of cosmic universals. By June 24th.
