anchor
Sculpture in front of the business center “Anchor” (Moscow, 2020)
It is based on a reflection on the very concept of an anchor. We value movement so much and notice the value of stopping only when we lose control of that movement. But this happens very often and is not always noticeable. Just for this, the anchor is incredibly valuable as a metaphor, as an important reminder to stop in order to find balance and keep from the spontaneous and uncontrollable. But then, after this seemingly forced stop, the most interesting thing only begins. It turns out that there is no special point in moving anywhere at all, it only distracts from a much more important occupation – a clear look outside, at the current, present moment, and most importantly inside oneself.
The resulting image of an anchor is a metaphor for peace, tranquility, balance and openness. In this state, it is possible to gain much more than in a non-stop and unconscious race to nowhere.
